The Coexist Initiative is a multi-global award-winning Kenyan NGO working across Kenya and the entire East Africa region to promote gender and social justice and human rights. Registered in 2005, Coexist has quickly established itself as a pioneer in promoting gender justice and advancing human rights by targeting men and boys as its key cluster.
For over twelve years, we have accumulated a wealth of experience in the diverse field and we utilize this know-how and reputation by implementing consultancy assignments in Kenya and regionally around gender issues, social justice, human rights, and policy advice. We are also a leading agency around conflict mitigation and management as well as anti-radicalization programming.
Coexist has won numerous international awards including the 2016 Global Intercultural Innovation Award (Germany), 2015 Avon Global Communications Award (USA), 2014 European/Global Intercultural Achievement Award, (Vienna) 2013 African Achievers – London. Coexist has been selected by experts in the field as one of the most effective organization’s working to end violence against women and girls by addressing negative socialization processes, negative cultural practices, stereotypes, and masculinities. Coexist’s work has also been selected by many UN agencies including UNHCR as examples of best practice and its materials translated into many languages across the world.
