Coexist Initiative has done several assignments over the last 2 years, below is a list of some of the assignments.

The Coexist Initiative is a multi-global award winning Kenyan NGO working across Kenya and the entire East Africa region to promote gender and social justice and human rights . Registered  in 2005, Coexist has quickly established itself as a pioneer in promoting gender justice, and advancing human rights by targeting men and boys as its key cluster.

 

For over twelve years, we have accumulated a wealth of experience in diverse field and we utilize this know-how and reputation by implementing consultancy assignments in Kenya and regionally around gender issues,social justice, human rights and policy advice. We are also a leading agency around conflict mitigation and management as well as anti-radicalization programming.

Wanjala Wafula is the founder and Executive Director of the Coexist Initiative, a multi-global award winning Kenyan NGO working across Kenya and the entire East and Central Africa region to promote gender transformation, human rights and social justice. He is also the co-founder and co-chair of the Kenya National Men’s Alliance for Gender Justice.   

Established in 2005, Coexist has quickly established itself as a pioneer in promoting gender transformation, and advancing human rights by targeting men and boys as its key cluster. As Executive Director, Wafula oversees budgetary duties of the organization and coordinates a team of 30 staff working across Kenya. He also coordinates the consultancy arm of the organization currently with fifteen organizations across the world.

Coexist has won numerous international awards and been selected by experts in the field as one of the most effective organization’s working to end violence against women and girls by addressing negative socialization processes, negative cultural practices, stereotypes and masculinities. This year, Coexist’s work has also been selected by many UN agencies including UNHCR as examples of best practice and its materials translated into many languages across the world.

  • 2014 - Role of honor (Kenyatta University-Kenya)

Wafula has authored  and published five books including

  • Chronicles of African pro-feminist 2014
  • Their voices their cry 2013 
  • The way I am 2012
  • The cost of being a man 2012   

Wafula is also a blogger, broadcaster and documentary film maker.
